Hire a car in Brisbane
The state capital of Queensland, Brisbane
carries an air of modern sophistication and subtropical vibes.
Despite already being Australia’s third largest city, Brisbane continues to expand,
preserving its commercially-oriented attitude while developing an alluring cultural scene.
Curled around the Brisbane River and wedged between two spectacular coasts, it is the
scenery beyond the city makes it truly special.
With Brisbane as your Australian base, your road trip destinations are
endless. Search with easyCar to find the perfect car for your coastal drives.
The Sunshine Coast
The drive of your life
If you’re tempted by great beaches, subtropical rainforest and plenty of sunshine, head
north of Brisbane to the sunshine coast. Though quieter than its southern coastal drive
(the Gold Coast), the Sunshine Coast impresses with pristine scenery and lookouts over
the Pacific Ocean.
One of the first stops you should make after leaving the city is Glass House Mountains, a
park filled with fantastical formations of rocky peaks, which seem to abruptly rise up
from the landscape. Drive on to Noosa National Park, where you will find kilometres of
hiking trails and the clear waters of Tea Tree Bay.
Next stop: Rainbow Beach. From Noosa the most spectacular route to Rainbow Beach is along
the Great Beach Drive, but be aware – you need a 4×4 to make this part of the journey.
To cap off your road trip, visit Fraser Island, the biggest sand island in the world.

Amphitheatre. For a different perspective of the district, head up the Wheel of Brisbane.
