The Congestion Charge
If you hire a car in London, it’s important to know about the congestion charge. This applies
to most vehicles in certain parts of central London.
- The congestion charge occurs between 7am and 6pm Monday to Friday.
- Weekends and bank holidays charges are 12pm to 6pm.
- There are no charges between Christmas Day and New Years Day.
- It costs £15 depending on whether you pay in advance or by midnight
the following day. You must pay for each day you travel in the zone.
It’s easy to stay out of the central zone, and as the traffic is always hectic within this
area, you’ll be avoiding the worst of it.
There is a car emissions charge for older and more polluting vehicles, which is unlikely to apply to any car rentals our suppliers offer.
