The south island
Bonifacio
Bonifacio is a main stop for anyone driving (or cruising) around the island. Based at the southern tip of Corsica, this lively harbour and its rich limestone cliffs give off a Mediterranean atmosphere that seeps into your skin.
Although it’s a lengthy two and a half hour drive from Ajaccio, Bonifacio makes up for the journey with stunning cliff top walks, an attractive old town and citadel, as well as a gleaming marina filled with sailboats and yachts.
There’s also plenty of sightseeing stops to make as you drive south. The prehistoric site of Filitosa lies close to the main motorway heading towards Bonifacio.
