Hire a car in Reno

Nevada’s underdog destination, Reno lives up to its nickname of “The Biggest Little City in the World”.

Resting on the California state line, the city has come a long way since its days as a simple trading post. Though it has a reputation of trying to imitate Las Vegas (minus the over-the-top glamour), with its neon lights and casinos, there’s plenty available for those not interested in the slots.

From Reno, you can make a spectacular gateway to Nevada and California’s nationals parks. Just around the corner you’ll find the pleasant shores of Lake Tahoe. For a road trip further afield, head to the Sierra Nevada Mountains or take a drive along the “Loneliest Road in America”, just make sure you’ve packed your survival skills.

Sights to see

Less overwhelming and neon-bright than Las Vegas, Reno is nonetheless one of the key gambling cities in the USA. Yet amongst all of the casinos and surf n turf buffets there are plenty of other attractions and a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. The National Automobile Museum is based in Reno and is a wonderful day out even if you’re not the world’s biggest car lover! With hundreds of old vehicles on display, the museum also exhibits lots of memorabilia from each car’s era. The Wilbur May Centre is a complex filled with gardens, children’s play areas, a museum and an arboretum. The kids can enjoy the petting zoo and log flumes in the play area, while adults can wander around the somewhat eccentric museum. In the pleasant campus of the University of Nevada, you can watch a dazzling light and sound show at the Fleischmann Planetarium set inside a striking building.

Reno: Discover more

Rent a car in Reno and you can explore the city and the surrounding Nevada landscape at your own pace. The main gambling district is located in the north of the city. There are fewer casinos than the incredible Glitter Gulch in Las Vegas, but here you can still enjoy the gaudy décor and games from poker to craps. Well-known names such as Circus Circus and Hilton have built sparkling establishments in Reno.
